Two Portrait Subjects

1) Erick Ihde

  • Ihde is a high school history teacher and girls soccer coach for West Albany High school. On the side he does trivia night on Wednesdays at Southpaws pizza.
  •  The best Place to capture him would be during trivia while announcing and working the game.
  • Props that would work best would be the microphone, the screen with questions, or him working with the score cards.
  • I can contact this person through phone or email.
2) Thomas Tangney
  • Physical trainer at SamFit in Lebanon Oregon.
  • The best place to capture him would be in the gym, or office at the SamFit gym.
  • Props that would work best would be the equipment inside the gym or doing paper/computer work in the gym.
  • I can contact Tangney through the Samfit office, or by going in during his work hours.
Self Critique

1) I think the best photo I've taken in this class so far is a portrait of Griffin Whitney. This photo has good lighting and I believe was composed well. The colors are very prominent and have a good skin tone to emphasis Whitney as a person.

2) My worst photo so far was probably the portrait of Trenton Dutcher. The photo was taken outside, right in the middle of the day, so the sun was harsh. I also should've gotten closer to the subject to get him as the center of the photo.

My Neighborhood/Hometown  I'm going to photograph Albany, Oregon. I actually currently live in Lebanon, but I grew up in Albany and for almost my whole life it's where I lived and went to school. It's still what I consider my home.  A portrait I could shoot would be a worker in Albany. I would most likely do someone who works at a popular "just Albany" place, like Hasty Freeze. A landmark I could photograph would be something like the clocktower, or the train station area. An activity I could photograph could be the farmers market on Saturday, or a sporting event happening in town.  The biggest photo challenge in this assignment will probably be the activity. I work a lot and don't always have time to make it to different things happening around Albany, and there's also the factor that I live on Lebanon.  Two Photo Story Ideas One interesting photo story I could do would be my sisters pregnant horse. Taking photos of how horses grow and go throu...

About me  This previous year at my high school I joined my schools magazine/journalism class. After joining I realized I really love journalism, so I'm majoring in it. I took this class as a prerequisite for my major. During my time on my school magazine I didn't do much with the photography aspect of things. In taking this class I want to widen my skills and gain some knowledge surrounding this area. Goals My goals for this class are how to work a camera. Considering I have no skills in camera use, any skills at all would be more than what I know now. I want to also engage with the campus and learn more about what is happening at LBCC. Going around and taking picture will hopefully help me do that. I would also like to get connected with the commuter and get some of my work published in it. LBCC photos I think good subjects for an upcoming photoshoot would be classes getting started and some students trying new things. Like, students first time in a lab, or first ti...

LBCC Student and Filmmaker Nick Slover

Camera in hand, police badge on chest. The stage is set for the newest episode of "Cops." Behind the scenes is a writer director and filmmaker. Friends agree to act, so he gets to writing the script. His dreams of becoming a movie director start out with the small films shot in backyards of Albany, Oregon. Numerous films around the town have helped this young aspiring director make his name in the town. Watch out, it won't be the last time his name is heard. How did you first get into film making? “I used to film movies with my webkinz and G.I. Joe’s when I was little. When I was 15 I watched ‘Pulp Fiction” and I was like, shoot, I want to do that. So I used a little camcorder my dad gave me to make a movie called ‘The Wanderer’ on a snow day in 2017.” What’s was your favorite film that you’ve made so far? “I guess a remake of ‘The Wanderer’ that I did about a year and a half ago. I’ve never been truly proud, because I know I always need to be better, but I was...
